Blue

I think body art, tattoos and piercings, are interesting and subversive ways of seriously altering your appearance to say that you are aware of your performance: the performance of trying to 'say' something (or as little as possible) about yourself, or your gender performance, or a performance to make you match your look (I look tough, I'll be tough.) I don't know, maybe I'm getting too faux deep, but this piercing, is, *like well meaningful yeah* (It is to me, actually, and it's the first and last not standard piercing I think I'll ever get.)

Also I think it looks rad.

Old

Drawn from a photograph on the wonderful blog Advanced Style.

I always look at the updates on Advanced Style, especially recently. It makes me so envious: the woman look utterly fantastic; they know who they are, they look totally awesome, and they've survived life: and I also envy their age and experience. I'm going through a very 'teenage' phase at the moment, despite the fact I'm nearly 20 (HOLYHECK).

Making it through all those years and years and ups and downs and trials and everything- just- how?! I can't image the next few years let alone a lifetime.

So, one day, I really hope I'll get to be a lady like they are- wonderful.

Selfies

This is a selection of tumblr selfies and phone photos while I was still at uni. STILL CAMERA-LESS! WOOP! But I'm home now for Easter so I'll have a few more opportunities for good camera blogging. I'm looking forward to it, I miss this blog. Also, there are loads more charity shops near here... excellent!

I hope you are all well and hopefully I shall have something a little more constructive to post soon. Meanwhile, all of this is a very realistic and everyday representation of "The Stuff I Wear." Yup.Well, I like looking at other people's clothes- so here you go! :)

(And gym kit, because the gym has helped me feel a little human again. When I'm really down and want to curl up in a fetal position under my desk I try and go to the gym instead. I'm unfit and just cycle slowly or row for a bit, but it helps. Also gym fashion contests are HILARIOUS. It's all neon nikes and fancy leggings with patterns and colours and layered sports tops and PERFECT make-up. So odd- I end up red disheveled in charity shop clothes and Amazon's cheapest leggings. :D )

 FACE.

 Love you all.
Farewell till soon! :D

Oh my god do I try

So still camera-less, but I'm just about getting my inspiration back to being a human and a really big part of that is clothes. And I thought that was silly, I thought that was shallow, but as I get a little better each week and care about things just a little bit more, I enjoy clothes more, putting together outfits and feeling like I look how I really want to, not just which clothes were to hand as I dragged myself out in the morning.

The blue dress, Uniqlo. Belt, Oxfam.

Off to a seminar... everything ebay or charity shop.

 Stuff is gifts.
And so that's that, YET ANOTHER post comprised of mobile phone pictures, webcam pictures and blather. I miss having a camera... Hope you're all well!

Little things: outfits, music, food

I don't have a camera, still, which is pretty much blogger death. I now wish I'd bought a fancier phone with a half decent one! Still, here are a few things that have been worn/eaten/heard recently. I'm sorry for being drifty and absent recently.

This music by a small band called Minor Kingdom has been playing, well constantly.
Also the band has it all as free downloads, and well, it's just amazing.

I've been reading essays on feminism and gender studies and queer theory over the last few weeks as part of my course, which is pretty awesome. It's also really interesting to approach it all purely academically without the 'rallying cry' type thing that goes on on Tumblr and stuff. (Which is also great, it's just, different.) I've also been living off chunky kitkats since I drifted out of being vegan. It wasn't really intentional, but I have enough hassle trying to just be a functioning person and I just wanted easier access to chocolate and to make it easier going out to eat sometimes. I know being vegan isn't hard, but I find it hard to leave my room so days, so it's all relative.

The campus cat has also taken to our house rather, which is lovely because I miss my cat back home. Someone christened him Freddy and said he also looks like the Pokemon Snorlax, which is also true. He's a massive cat. And very squishy.

And now some random selfies. Fuzzy jumpers and hair, slightly grungy looks. I love tailored stuff and slinky stuff and smart stuff sometimes but this is the sort of thing I can wear without thinking too hard- cosy and layered and safe. My new dark red jumper below is like a fleecy towel. It's so soft!

Everything charity shopped, a gift, or without a definite source... which makes it sound like things just pop up. Maybe they do. Hm...
Evil demon webcam photo. I've been wearing this jumper too much, I think.
Hope you are all well.

Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue

 Blue and black and things:

Jumper underneath from zara/a charity shop. Pic #2: My Van Gogh style Doctor Who poster. Pic #3: Pale Fire by Vladamir Nabokov which is an amazing read, (all about authorship, identity and layers of truth) but also it has the most beautiful cover. And my planner. Also blue.

Pic #2: My Grandmas shoes when mine got wet and I had no others, hand knitted socks from my friends mum, tights from Primark. Pic #3: Fox slipper socks from a friend for Christmas. Mess

Hello. Sorry for the long silence. Happy New Year!

My life feels a bit vague and purposeless at the moment, so here is a simple outfit for going to the library in and eating lots of chocolate while listening to Spanish music. And my very, very messy room. It's chaotic, and not even in a pretty arty brained way. (Back home not at uni- my room at uni is painfully tidy.)

As I type this I'm also wearing a huge fleece, stolen from my Dad because fleeces should be enormous. It's pretty cold in here. I'm becoming quite a fan of Uniqlo's fleece range. Fleece is the ultra anti-fashion fabric I think, and that's why I'm starting to really like it- it screams practicality and parents telling you to keep warm and muddy walks and rainy holidays (at least for me.) Yay fleeces. And now are some picture that are nothing to do with fleeces.

I got some new shoes too- DMs. I like them very much. That's all I have to say. I hope everyone had lovely winter breaks and things.
